Rose Chen

Rose is a Creative Writing and French Studies double major, and pursuing a certificate in Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory. She has been writing for The Argus since Fall 2022, covering campus events, administrative updates, and guest lectures. According to an inside source, Rose can reliably be bribed with pastries and cold brew. Serious inquiries only.

Sida Chu

Sida is a history and theater double major from a little-known part of China that’s roughly equivalent to the American Midwest—except with more noodles, buns, and dumplings. She has been writing for The Argus since Fall 2022 and also works on campus as a writing tutor. In her free time, Sida loves reading, traveling, and getting lost in Wesleyan’s missionary archives. She would do just about anything to avoid using the imperial measurement system.

Sam Hilton

Sam is a senior history major with a minor in religion, lives in Austin, Texas, and has worked on the paper since Fall 2021. He is also an Office Assistant for the Office of Student Involvement, a Wesleyan Interfaith Literacy and Diversity (WILD) intern, a CT Mirror Audience Engagement intern, and a member of the Alpha Delta Phi (ADPhi) literary society. In his spare time, Sam enjoys maps, politics, urbanism, and anything to do with the history of Texas.

Carolyn Neugarten

Carolyn (she/her) is a junior from New York majoring in the College of Letters with a minor in Economics. In her period of Argus semi-retirement, she hopes to get to the bottom of Wesleyan finances and other ongoing investigative stories, and help reinvigorate Argus fundraising and outreach initiatives.

Caleb Henning

Caleb (he/him) is an economics and French Studies double major with a certificate in applied data science. He enjoys investigating and reporting on crimes in the area and laying out the paper. Outside of The Argus, he is a Writing Workshop tutor and a Quantitative Analysis Center tutor.

Elias Mansell

Elias (he/him) is currently pursuing an MA in astronomy, having graduated last year with a BA in astronomy, classics, and the College of Letters. During his four-and-a-half years on The Argus, Elias has served as editor-in-chief, head copy editor, and news editor, frequently covering campus health and the Wesleyan Student Assembly. He spends the majority of his time worrying about rings of dust and gas around distant stars, fretting over grammar and stylistic conventions, and agonizing over graduate school admissions.

Arla Hoxha

Arla is a senior double majoring in the College of Letters and economics. She has been working with The Argus since her first semester at Wesleyan. In her free time, she lays out other publications on campus, enjoys weird speculative fiction and attempts to translate poetry–to varying degrees of success.

Miles Craven

Miles is a sophomore year CSS major from Los Angeles, California. He has been on the Argus since he was a freshman, where he started out in the news section. When not at the Argus you can find him in Perkatory or driving (gratuitously) to summies.

Anabel Goode

Anabel (she/her) is a history and government major and loves writing about current events and their impact on Wesleyan. Anabel is from Los Angeles, Calif. but loves watching Philadelphia sports (Go Birds!).

He’s worked on the Argus since 2023, and loves cooking, eating, raising money for the paper, politicking, and jazz.

Raiza is a freshman from Chandigarh, India, majoring in Economics and Government. She loves yapping about geopolitics and international relations. She’s obsessed with traveling and learning about new cultures. In her free time, she loves watching war documentaries and doodling.

Outside The Argus, she’s an Environmental Fellow for the Sustainability Office and a member of Shakti. Lyah loves going on runs and listening to podcasts.

Thomas Lyons

Thomas (he/him) has got a lot of ideas. He nearly became an IDEAS major until he almost failed a required course on mechanical engineering. These days, he’s stoked to feature and defeature, as he engages with Wesleyan and Middletown personalities. Thomas is not concerned about the journalistic ethics involved in simultaneously running the University’s independent humor magazine, The John Wesley Methodist Charter, though someone should probably look into that. A College of Social Studies junior, Thomas knows at once too much and seemingly nothing about Rousseau. Outside of The Argus office, Thomas rocks pretty hard with some Wesleyan bands, cooks the books for the Wesleyan Outdoors Club, performs stand up comedy, tours prospective students, and dreams of one day driving the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile for a living.

Sulan is a senior from New York City, pursuing a double major in history and Film Studies. This is her eighth and (hopefully) final semester writing for The Argus and she’s happy to still be going strong. She is also the Head Resident of the Butterfields, a co-chair of the history majors committee, and an Office Assistant in the Office of Student Involvement. She also enjoys crocheting, listening to true crime audiobooks, and watching borderline unhealthy amounts of television!

She has been involved with The Argus since her freshman year and is super excited to continue her work this semester! Maggie loves to spend her time exploring the Wesleyan Argives and attending art events on campus. Outside of The Argus, you catch Maggie running for the Wesleyan cross country and track teams and watching movie marathons with her friends.

Lara is a prospective major in economics and data analysis from NYC. She loves animals, doing pilates, and reading! She was drawn to The Argus because she used to write for her high school’s newspaper and wanted to continue that passion.

Hope Smith

Hope hopes to major in History, German Studies, and the College of Letters. Her articles spotlight The Argus’ seldom-remembered stories relevant to campus today. Outside the Argives, Hope is engaged in disability rights work and likes to spend her weekends in dark sky parks, antique markets, or sketching plants.

Akhil is a dance and anthropology major who has been a member of The Argus since his first semester at Wesleyan. On campus, Akhil dances with Fusion, works for the Wesleyan Media Project, is a member of Psi Upsilon, and can be spotted drinking black coffee at all hours of the day. He loves personal essays and hot takes, and can’t wait for another opinionated semester.

Zara (she/her) is a double major in psychology and English with a minor in education studies. This will be Zara’s sixth semester as a member of The Argus. Outside of The Argus, Zara is a Wesleyan Interfaith Literacy and Diversity (WILD) intern and also enjoys reading books on Foss Hill when the weather is nice. Zara looks forward to another semester full of hot takes, personal stories, and exciting columns!

Blake is a Junior from Penn Valley, Pennsylvania, who is a history major and animal studies minor. He particularly enjoys writing about free speech issues on campus. He has been writing for The Argus since the fall of his first year and is looking forward to covering the Cardinals again this year! Outside of The Argus office, you can find him playing a slew of intramural sports at a subpar level or working at the Sustainability Office as a compost intern.

Erin (she/her) is a government and American Studies double major from Glen Ridge, N.J. She loves writing about anything related to Wesleyan athletics (and can often be seen in Exley cornering people for interviews) as well as occasional hot takes about the NFL (go birds). Outside of The Argus, she is a member of Rho Epsilon Pi, does research for the Government Department, and spends the majority of her time begging her friends to go to football and ice hockey games.

Harry Freeland

Harry is a Los Angeles native with an obsession with Baltimore sports, specifically the Ravens and Orioles. He is equally interested in film, nuclear energy, government, and a wide variety of topics. He decided to write for the Argus to start spreading awareness about global soccer and supports Chelsea until he dies. You can probably find him walking around campus, and if you do, he implores you to stop him to argue or discuss any sport.

Ry (he/him) is a first-year student from the Philippines, expecting to double major in Dance and Economics with a minor in Global Engagement. He started radio broadcasting in 4th grade and has been a student journalist ever since. He manages Wesleyan’s social media platforms and is involved in several other organizations on campus, including the Concert Committee, the sailing team, PINOY, and FASA.
